First Baptist Church Federal Credit Union was established while
under the Pastorate of the late Rev. Theodore R. Lee, Jr., and
received its Charter in 1975 from the National Credit Union Association,
(NCUA). We are located on the lower level of First Baptist Church
at 100-10 Astoria Blvd., East Elmhurst, New York, 11369. Business
hours are on Sundays (1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M.) Immediately
following the 10:30am church service; and on Tuesday 6:30pm - 7:15pm & Thursdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. You may contact by telephone or fax at
718 507-5457.
Principally, our credit union is a savings and loan organization
that is very much like a bank. However, services are limited
to the First Baptist Church membership, their immediate families;
and its auxiliaries and sponsored organizations.
As a member of the National Credit Union Association, we must
conform to federal, state and NCUA regulations, as well as
the policies set forth by our Board of Directors and approved
by the membership. We are proud of our achievements, reputation
and the services we have offered to our community for more
than thirty years.
In addition to its shareholders, our Credit Union is comprised
of volunteers working as tellers, bookkeepers and three functioning
committees:
The Board of Directors consists of seven to nine Credit
Union members, and is lead by its President, Reverend Willie
Daniels.
Key functions of the Board are ensuring compliance to NCUA,
state and federal regulations, establishing policies, and
overseeing the total operation of the Credit Union. The group
meets at
7:30 P.M., on the second Tuesday of each month.
The Credit Committee is currently made up of three persons
whose primary responsibility is to review and process loan
applications. Each member of the Credit Committee has a
thorough knowledge of credit union procedures, and recognizes
the importance
of confidentiality.
The Supervisory Committee is
responsible for making sure that all accounts, record keeping
and files are accurate,
and maintained
in compliance with our governing agencies’ regulations.
